James Hanshaw is an internationally recognised opera, choral, and orchestral conductor, nominated for an Olivier Award, who is based in Berlin, where he enjoys a rich artistic career as both a conductor and music educator.

In 2024, he won First Prize and the Orchestra Prize at the prestigious Kussewitzky International Conducting Competition, leading to numerous international engagements and debut performances with orchestras across Europe, including the Orchestra Sinfonica di Grosseto and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Sanremo, where his performance resulted in an immediate invitation for a return engagement.

His recent artistic engagements include collaborations with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Glyndebourne, Theatre Freiburg, and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, alongside numerous invitations for continued collaboration.
