PRESENTATION OF IVAN TOKIN’S NOVEL

May 14- 7:00 pm

The novel by writer Ivan Tokin “Black night above me and the starry sky in me” will be presented in the House of the Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić on Thursday, May 14 at 7 pm. This is Tokin’s most mature work – a novel that captivates with its beauty and power.

The novel is dominated by the voice of a woman who is not afraid to talk about herself – in order to stand against invisibility: social, physical, emotional. Her voice is challenging and strong. She breaks stereotypes about women in fiction: she is neither a victim nor a femme fatale, she is an authentic being who is reflected both in the mirror and in her freedom.

During the evening, there will also be talk about the new collection of Tokin’s short prose published from 2018 to 2025, “The First Exit for Rosarito”, which is almost out of print.

Ivan Tokin (1971) has so far published the novels The Most Normal Man in the World (2014), Dog (2017), Neli (2019), Black Night Above Me and the Starry Sky in Me (2025) and collections of short prose Molekuli (2015), M2 Multiverse (2018) and First Exit for Rosarito (2026). His prose has been translated into English, Russian, Swedish and Slovenian.

The conversation with the author will be conducted by journalist Nebojša Mandić.
