The premiere of the documentary film “One Hundred Years of the Adriatic” – a century of Herceg Novi and Montenegrin successful sports stories will be held on Wednesday, September 16, at 8 p.m., in Park Hall. Entrance is free.

PVK Jadran from Herceg Novi celebrated a great jubilee 4 years ago – 100 years of existence, during which this club became much more than a sports team. The Adriatic Sea has been one of the symbols of Herceg Novi for decades, but also one of the most recognizable pillars of Montenegrin water polo.

On the occasion of the great jubilee, the RTCG team realized a documentary film dedicated to the history, people and successes of the club. The film is signed by journalist Danijel Čelecki, director Saša Terzić, cinematographers Pavle Kovačević and Andrija Raičević, and editor Srđan Nikolić.

About twenty interlocutors speak throughout the film, including some of the biggest names in Adriatic and Montenegrin water polo – club legends. Their testimonies, along with archival recordings and photographs, create a story about the generations that built the identity of the Adriatic for decades.

The history of the Adriatic is inextricably linked to the history of Herceg Novi. Since its foundation in 1922 and the first official match in 1926, the club has gone through different eras, sporting ups and downs, and created generations of top athletes and national team members. Many of them left a deep mark not only in club water polo, but also in Montenegrin and Yugoslav water polo.

The special value of the film is given by the cooperation between RTCG and PVK Jadran, which was at an extremely high level during the entire creation process. Thanks to the openness and support of the club, the film crew got the opportunity to record a part of the rich history that belongs not only to the Adriatic, but also to Herceg Novi and Montenegro through personal stories, memories and archival material.

“One Hundred Years of the Adriatic” is therefore not just a story about medals, titles and big matches. It is a story about people, generations, friendships and a city that has lived water polo with its club for a whole century.
