FILM EVENT OF THE SUMMER: ALL THE COLORS OF THE FILM IN HERCEG NOVI FROM AUGUST 22 TO 28
August 22 - August 28

From August 22 to 28 this year, Herceg Novi will be the center of the regional and European film scene – the host city of the 39th Film Festival Herceg Novi – Montenegro Film Festival, the largest film festival in Montenegro and one of the most significant in Southeast Europe.
The official opening is scheduled for August 22, when guests from the world of film will walk the red carpet under the Torah, and then the Festival will officially begin with a ceremony at the Kanli tower.
During the seven days of the festival, the audience can expect an interesting program under the slogan “All colors of film”: the latest regional films, a selection of the best titles of European cinema, documentaries from around the world, student films, new TV series, as well as a program dedicated to the film industry – Montenegro Film Rendezvous.
We present the visual identity of the 39th edition
As in previous years, the screenings will be held at several recognizable locations in Herceg Novi, which during the Festival become open-air cinemas — the Kanli Kula and Forte mare fortresses, Mić Pavlović Square and the garden of the House of Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić.
These environments, as well as the authentic motifs of Herceg Novi, were the inspiration for creating the main visuals of this year’s Festival.
The basis of the identity is the circle — a simple symbol associated with film, lens, eye, frame, sun and projection. Inside the circles, the images and colors of the festival open up: details of the city, summer and film.
Days of the film industry for the third time at the Festival
The selector of the feature film competition program is journalist and film critic Vuk Perović, the director of the documentary film competition program is Vladimir Perović, while the selector of the student competition program is director Sara Stijović. The program editor of TV Niša is the playwright and screenwriter Stefan Bošković.
Special emphasis of the 39th edition will be placed on professional development and networking of film professionals, through a rich industrial program realized by the Festival in partnership with the Film Center of Montenegro.
As part of the program, the third edition of the Film Industry Day Montenegro Film Rendezvous will be held, the Female Filmmakers workshop, organized by the Film Center of Montenegro with the support of the Embassy of France and the French Institute in Montenegro, as well as the EAVE Producers Workshop, which is realized as part of the RE-ACT program, which Montenegro joined this year. Part of the industrial program will be the program for the development of acting talents, which the Film Center of Montenegro is implementing with the support of the British Council.
The program will also include the Info day of the FRAME project (IPA Montenegro – Albania – Italy), panels of the Creative Europe – MEDIA program, masterclasses, as well as an Info day dedicated to the development of television series.
All programs intended for the development of the Montenegrin and regional film industry will be held from August 22 to 28 in the Park Hall.
The patrons of the 39th Film Festival Herceg Novi – Montenegro Film Festival are the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro and the Municipality of Herceg Novi, while the executive producer is the Public Institution of Culture Herceg-fest.
