The promotion of the novel “Epitaph for an Actor” by author Ljubica Kubura will be organized in the garden of the House of Nobel Laureate Ivo Andrić on Topla, on Monday, June 22nd at 8:30 PM.

The novel “Epitaph for an Actor” delves into the indomitable spirit of a man who refuses to be silenced, replaced and forgotten, even when faced with insurmountable obstacles. After the curtain falls on the actor’s life, his daughter, who sees him as a role model, begins writing a novel about her father, trying to preserve his legacy from oblivion.

The author Ljubica Kubura, literary critic Dr. Radoje Femić and writer Miljan Mijušković will speak about the novel, while the evening’s moderator will be Milica Bakrač. Through a discussion about the work, the audience will have the opportunity to learn about the themes, characters and messages that the novel carries, as well as Ljubica Kubura’s specific authorial sensibility. Ljubica Kubura was born in 1988 in Belgrade, where she currently lives and works.

She is the author of a collection of short stories “Belgrade Watercolor” and a novel “Epitaph for an Actor” (2023), as well as numerous award-winning short stories published in regional and national competitions. She is the scriptwriter of the play “The Man in the Red Suit”, which premiered in 2012 at the Slavija Theater.

Her writing is characterized by strong introspection, irony and a unique attitude towards literature and life, and the author herself often emphasizes her closeness to the literary worlds of Chekhov and Dostoevsky.
