The Herceg Novi Secretariat for Culture and Education invites children and young people to participate in the “Young Creators of European Heritage” competition, which is organized as part of the European Heritage Day. It is an opportunity for young people to express how they perceive their local culture, present their vision to a wider European audience, contribute to the presentation of Herceg Novi and connect with participants from other countries.
Participants will be divided into two groups:
– Age group 1: from 6 to 11 years, the number of participants in the group is not limited
– Age group 2: from 11 to 17 years old, the group can have two to four participants
Participants work in cooperation with mentors, and it is necessary to create visual material (drawings, photographs or pictures, with a description of up to 800 words, and for the older group, a three-minute video material) that shows the interpretation or expression of some aspect of cultural heritage that is of special importance for children and young people.
The material with the completed application form should be submitted by December 15 to the email address [email protected] and by mail (recorded on a CD or USB) to the address: Ministry of Culture and Media, Njegoševa 83, 81000 Cetinje, Montenegro.
You can find the application form, procedure template and more detailed competition conditions at https://www.gov.me/…/dani-evropske-bastine-takmicenje…
The Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro will select one visual material for both age groups in the first round of evaluation. The selected materials of Age Group 2 will be forwarded to further evaluation, which will be carried out at the European level, and the winners will be announced in March 2026.
Age Group 1 winners receive a European Heritage Day gift pack and an official certificate, and Age Group 2 winners qualify for further evaluation in the competition, which will result in a visit to European institutions in Strasbourg in May 2026.
The “Young Creators of European Heritage” competition is realized as part of the international manifestation Days of European Heritage, which is coordinated at the national level by the Ministry of Culture and Media, in cooperation with the Council of Europe and the European Commission.
