The word of the playwright

The basic material for constructing the text And every time is like the first is taken from the short story The Wife of the Deceased, and the play by Tašan Borisav Stanković. The principle of decomposing prose and dramatic material and reassembling the composition using methods of fragmenting the dramatic content and dramatizing the prose content was applied. The adaptation of the resulting textual structure, which places the two main heroines from two works by Bora Stanković: Anica from the short story and Tašana from the play, provided the basic dramatic structure of following the narrative about the life of women who are left alone and face this circumstance. Further adaptation made it possible to replace the widow in the original texts with the position of abandoned women in a romantic relationship, and for the complete narrative to be a narrative of recovery, i.e. looking for a way out of the field of the defeated, that is, the loser. The next level of intervention is the actualization procedure of the created text. The actualization was carried out by dramaturgical methods of montage and collage of the resulting dramatic material with documentary material taken from the daily press and above all textual confessions of women and conversations from various forums on the topic of leaving, overcoming, re-examining the traditional framework of women’s education in Serbia today.

Appropriation of different media content enabled a more objective perception, reading and loading of new meaning units in the text. The newly created construction represents a kind of parallel drawing in the narratives of the problem of women’s emancipation in the patriarchal society from the beginning of the twentieth century and their revision in the context of “liberated women” in the society of the beginning of the twenty-first century.

Tašana and Anica symbolize twins, two archetypes, two models, two faces within the same mechanism, the mechanism of overcoming and getting rid of a position that implies dependence on a man as a stable life support.
