“Writing the story of Ivica and Marica, Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm talked about poverty and hunger, the main problem of many families in the 19th century, when it was not unusual for parents to abandon their children, because they could not support them. For many, this fairy tale was very scary, often on the genre border between fairy tale and horror. Although at first glance it is a story about two lost children and an evil witch, in fact it is a story about family, love, fear, temptation and courage.
Courage, which has grown on the foundations of togetherness and empathy, makes it easier to overcome temptations and fear – this is what many old stories teach us, and one of them, the one about Ivica and Marica, is especially instructive in this sense, and it arrives in mid-October in a new guise. The fairy tale “Ivica and Marica” by the Brothers Grimm inspired the actor Slobodan Ninković to create a play of the same name in our theater.” (www.pozoristemladih.co.rs)
Entertaining and artistically sumptuous, the show, which is intended for viewers aged 4 and up, is also attractive for much older theatergoers, like any good show.
