The play “Fortress” (International Off Program) will be performed on the stage of the Park Hall on Thursday, April 9, starting at 8 pm, as part of the program of the 31st HAPS.

The play “Fortress”, which comes from Italy, is a predominantly visual and physical performance that prompts the cast to react to music from the ethnic milieu through physical action and the symbolic use of objects. The show features live musical sequences.

The Atelier Cuncheon Theater from Bergamo started this project, as they say: by studying the masterpiece of world literature by Meša Selimović, whose action takes place in Sarajevo during the Ottoman period.

Embarking on research into the multicultural background of the Balkans and its history, the authors and actors deepen the existential reflections of the novel’s protagonist, his questions about the existence and possibility of justice and kindness among people. They also tried to highlight the individual perspective in contrast to the perspective of the community, the authorities with the conclusion that created social structures and hierarchies sooner or later inevitably lead to falling into various fundamentalisms.

A very intense theatrical experience in this performance performed on stage lasts 55′, an immersive performance that sends the audience to a dimension outside of time frames and highlights the ritual as a universal expression of spirituality.

Andrea Benaglio signs the direction, adaptation of the text and plays in the play with five other members of the ensemble. This troupe from Bergamo – Italy “Atelier Chuncheon research theater” performed in Montenegro at the FIAT festival with its street performance Krisolov five years ago, at several festivals in Greece, North Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and in most Mediterranean countries.
