EXHIBITION "ART SCHOOL IN HERCEG NOVI - PROFESSORS AND STUDENTS"

The exhibition from the permanent collection of the Novi Museum and Gallery will present to the audience the works and individual poetics of the professors and students of the famous Art School, among which are many well-known names in our art.

The art school was a phenomenon that appeared as a gift to the city, an argument that Herceg Novi is known as a city of artists. She left a strong spiritual mark and her memory is still very much alive, and this exhibition is another contribution to that.

In the “Josip Bepo Benković” gallery, art lovers will find the works of 38 artists, including Voj Stanić, Luka Berberović, Đorđe Bata Pravilović, Mirko Mitko Bulajić, Luka Tomanović…

The art school in Herceg Novi, moved from Cetinje in 1948, lived and breathed to the fullest until 1966, when it was abolished, much to the regret of the people of Novlja. The school, whose canteen was located in the place where the “Josip Bepo Benković” city gallery is today, was located on Savina, across from today’s “Plaža” hotel. The building was damaged in the 1979 earthquake, after which it was demolished.

The exhibition, which is part of the program in honor of October 28, Liberation Day and Herceg Novi Municipality Day, will be opened on Thursday, October 23 at 7 p.m.
