From August 23 to 29, Herceg Novi will once again become a regional center of film art, hosting the 38th edition of one of the most important festivals in Southeast Europe, the 38th Film Festival Herceg Novi – Montenegro Film Festival.
The most important film event of the summer brings to the audience more than 60 productions in three competitive selections and revue programs, under the slogan “All colors of film”.
Feature films selected by journalist and film critic Vuk Perović will be shown in the surroundings of the Kanli Tower fortress. The focus is on films from Montenegro, which recorded a record number of productions this year – both majority and minority co-productions, as well as productions from Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Kosovo, North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The garden of the House of Nobel laureate Ivo Andrić will be a meeting place with documentary films from all over the world, selected by director Vladimir Perović.
A new generation of authors will present their works in the selection of student films, which this year is being held at a new location – in the Old Town, on Mića Pavlović Square, with the signature of director Sara Stijović as a selector.
Special attention is drawn to the new selection called TV Niša, this year’s fashion show, in which the latest achievements in the production of television series will be presented and a competitive session of young Montenegrin authors will be held.
The Kino Evropa program, as well as the films of the Festival Network of the Adriatic Region, will be shown in the “Park” hall.
At the Forte mare fortress, the audience will be able to enjoy special screenings dedicated to the legends: “Avalanche Man” – a film portrait of the drum virtuoso Dragoljub Đuričić, “Vude, ti si pojiđejio” – about the life and artistic journey of Oscar winner, director, screenwriter, animator and professor Dušan Vukotić and “Haustor” about the cult musical group of the same name.
One of the special screenings is reserved for the documentary film “Stanić, Stoljeće”, about the great painter Voj Stanić, directed by Andro Martinović.
In cooperation with the Film Center of Montenegro, the film industry days “Montenegro Film Rendezvous” will be held for the second time, which will gather authors, producers, selectors and professionals from the entire region, opening up space for new partnerships and co-productions.
The patrons of the 38th Film Festival Herceg Novi – Montenegro film festival are the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro and the Municipality of Herceg Novi, and the executive producer is the Public Institution of Culture “Herceg-fest”.
