From September 24 to 27, Herceg Novi will host the 11th International Festival of Choirs, an event that has been gathering choir ensembles, conductors, music pedagogues and lovers of choral music from various European countries, regions and Montenegro for more than a decade. The organizer of the festival is the NGO “Montenegro Choir Association”.

“The festival again this year brings a rich program, which combines education, competition, revue performances and a concert of spiritual music, providing participants with an opportunity for artistic improvement, exchange of experiences and socializing. It begins on September 24 with a workshop, which will be open to conductors, but also to all interested choir singers. The workshop represents an important educational segment of the festival and an opportunity for participants to work with experienced experts and exchange knowledge and experience”, announces the director of the festival, Nada Karadžić.

The competitive part of the festival begins on Friday, when the choirs will present themselves in front of an expert international jury. The official opening of the festival will be held on the same day at 19:00 at the Kanli Tower, one of the most recognizable symbols of Herceg Novi. In case of bad weather, the opening will be held in the Park Hall.

On Saturday, the competition program continues, followed by the revue part of the festival on the “Nikola Đurkovića” square below the “Tora”, where the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the performances of choral ensembles in the special atmosphere of the Old Town.

“The festival ends on Sunday with a concert of spiritual music, which is organized for the first time this year as part of the newly established cooperation with the Music School “Vida Matijan” in Kotor. The concert will be held in the Church of the Holy Spirit starting at 11:00 a.m., which further connects the festival with the rich cultural and sacred heritage of Kotor,” Karadžić points out.

The patrons of the festival are the Municipality of Herceg Novi, the Ministry of Culture and Media, the Tourist Organization of Herceg Novi, JUK Herceg Fest and other sponsors.
