THE 10TH OPEN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP OF MONTENEGRO IN LAND BORDER CONSTRUCTION

September 19- 12:00 am - September 20- 12:00 am

A two-day program dedicated to the construction of the land border will be held on the plateau of the Kotobilj spring on September 19 and 20. Organized by the Agency for Development and Protection of Orjen (Orjen Nature Park), the Subra Mountaineering Club and the Kameno-Žlijebi Local Community, the 10th Open Team Championship of Montenegro in land border construction will be held, with a demonstration workshop and accompanying program for visitors.

The construction of land borders using the “nasuvo” technique is a traditional knowledge and skill that is part of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, which UNESCO entered on its list in 2018. Drywall construction is at the same time an important part of the cultural landscape of our karst – the way people have shaped the space for generations, preserved the soil and adapted to natural conditions.

On Saturday, September 19, from 10:00 a.m., a demonstration workshop on the construction of land borders will be held, during which those interested will be able to get to know the basic principles of this technique and try it out for themselves. A children’s corner will be organized for the youngest, where they will make a model of the land border.

After the end of the workshop, from 1 to 2 p.m., a tour of the nearby archaeological site of Čakotin, known for the remains of defensive stone walls and the exceptional view towards the entrance to the Bay of Kotor, is planned.

On Sunday, September 20, from 9 a.m., the central event will follow – the 10th Open Team Championship of Montenegro in the construction of dry land.

The three-member teams will perform successively, and each will have only 15 minutes to build their land border. The length, height, slope, stacking method, stability and aesthetics of the constructed wall will be evaluated. The competition will take place in the general and national categories, and mixed teams are also welcome.

At the end of the competition, diplomas and a transitional “Kamen” will be awarded, after which the competitors will have lunch together in the nearby Kamen.

Participation in the program is free and at your own risk, while for minor participants, the responsibility lies with the parents.

To participate in the Saturday workshop, it is necessary to send the names and surnames of the participants via Viber message to the number 069360803, no later than Friday by 12 noon. For the Sunday competition, teams register in the same way, no later than Saturday at 12 noon. In case of more interest than the predicted number of teams, priority is given to previously registered teams.

Participants should have deep and sturdy shoes and pants, while protective gloves are provided by the organizer. Refreshments and snacks will be provided during the workshop and competition.
