After successful presentations during Book Nights in Belgrade and Novi Sad, one of the region’s most widely read and popular writers, Ante Tomić, will be a guest at the House of Nobel Laureate Ivo Andrić in Herceg Novi, where on Saturday, July 4, he will present his new novel “Prince Marko Liberates Imotski” to the public.

A novel by a beloved regional author like nothing you’ve read before — a historical spectacle, an uproarious satire, and a grand story about the Balkans before the Balkans. Ante Tomić will talk about his new novel, as well as his rich literary and journalistic oeuvre, in conversation with Danijel Jelić.

Ante Tomić (Split, 1970) graduated in philosophy and sociology from the Faculty of Humanities in Zadar. He is the author of numerous award-winning and widely read novels, including “What Is a Man Without a Mustache,” “Nothing Should Surprise Us,” “Love, Electricity, Water, Telephone,” “The Submissive Citizen,” “A Miracle in Poskokova Draga,” “Tadpoles,” “The Magnificent Poskoks”, and “Hope” (2024). His works have been adapted for theatre and film, and audiences also know him for his short story collections, plays, feuilletons, and columns.

He is a regular columnist for Jutarnji list and the Velike Priče portal, and for his journalistic work he received the Croatian Journalists’ Association award “Marija Jurić Zagorka” for best reportage.
